Our Club is Your Club
Surf Life Saving Clubs are central hubs of communities around Australia and are at the heart of Surf Life Saving. They’re more than just a building, they’re a place to call home, they’re like a family.
No matter who you are, or what your background is, everyone is welcome in Surf Life Saving and there is a role for everyone no matter your skill level.
Our amazing volunteers make a life saving difference in so many different ways. Gain your Bronze Medallion, complete a First Aid Certificate, compete for the Club, participate in Nippers, support our Nippers, or simply help out with a special project by sharing your time and skills.
Everyone is welcome at Clovelly Surf Life Saving Club and there is a role for everyone.
Learn and grow as much as you choose. If you are adventurous, there are always chances to upskill.
For more details, you can download the Get Involved Information Pack.
Our Recruitment Officers are always happy to show you around the club and tell you all about it, just email them at: recruitment@clovellysurfclub.com.au

Patrolling Membership
Surf Rescue Certificate (SRC)
The SRC provides participants aged 13 yrs+ with skills and knowledge related to surf awareness, aquatic rescue operations, communication systems and equipment and resuscitation. It is recommended for members who wish to perform in the role of SLS water safety personnel or take on a lifesaving cadetship and join a lifesaving patrol. At Clovelly, SRCs provide water safety for Nippers, and support the patrolling teams during our busy summer weekends. Most SRCs go on to complete the Bronze Medallion course.
Completing an SRC award is recognised as part of the Duke of Edinburg International Award Australia (Duke of Ed).
Bronze Medallion
The Bronze Medallion course provides participants aged 15 yrs+ with the skills and knowledge required to participate in Surf Life Saving patrol operations. This is the core award to be a surf lifesaver in Australia. At Clovelly SLSC we run several training courses each season, so you have time brush up your swimming skills before you attempt the swim assessment! Bronze Medallion holders at Clovelly are assigned to a team, under the supervision of a Patrol Captain, and expected to patrol for about 40 hours between the months of September and April. Clovelly SLSC patrols take place over the weekends and public holidays. Completing the BM award is recognised as part of the Duke of Ed.

Non-Patrolling Membership
Associate Membership - Must be at least 40 years of age
Are you keen to join a Surf Life Saving Club but don’t want to do patrols? Associate membership is for you!
Associate membership allows you to become a social member of the Club with access to the gym*, Tom Caddy Room and Club activities.
*gym membership fees apply
General Membership
We require at least one parent or carer to become a General Member when enrolling a child in the Nippers program. Volunteering at Nippers is a great way to get involved. Nipper volunteers (eg Age Managers, Age Registrars) are registered as General Members. Many Nipper parents or carers complete the SRC and go on to become BM holders. It is quite common to find two generations of one family patrolling together at Clovelly!
Nippers
Nippers is a fun way for children aged 5 to Under 14 to enjoy the beach in a safe environment. The Junior Development Program is designed to ensure children have fun at the beach while participating in lessons that make them surf aware, as well as a pathway to becoming a fully rounded participant in both lifesaving and sport.
